The Lincolnshire Marsh is a unique and beautiful landscape, rich in history and protected under the Biodiversity Action
Plan. But it is a landscape under constant threat – from shortsighted local government, from greedy landowners and developers,
from intensive farming and insensitive tourism. It is slowly becoming a semi-industrial, semi-suburban place, a dumping
ground for the things no-one else wants. The Lincolnshire Marsh Protection Group (LMPG) has been founded to protect the Marsh’s
endangered beauty and tranquillity.
Dangers to the area include insensitive industrial installations, unkempt caravan parks, ugly housing, filling-in and over-maintenance of dykes,
noise pollution and light pollution, certain agricultural chemicals. If we are not very careful, the character of the
Marsh could be changed disastrously, and permanently.
